“Torre Del Tartufo - Great Italian cooking vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2011
We booked a week at Torre Del Tartufo cooking school as part of our 10th Anniversary trip. We could not have been happier with the experience.
Classes run from 3:00 to 7:00 each day providing time to go explore the countryside. One full day is open with a second day touring local wineries, a cheese farm, and other locations that was arranged by the school. There are so many great Tuscan locations to see as day trips from the school that I would strongly recommend coming into the area a week in advance to explore so that you have more time to relax at the school location.
Franco was the chef teaching our class. The classes were great fun, very relaxed, and his recipes were great. Each class included preparation of a four-course meal which we ate for dinner. Franco paired each dish with wonderful local wines that complemented the food perfectly.
The property itself was breathtaking. The pictures on the site don’t come close to showing what a beautiful and relaxing place it is. The property manager, Barbara, handled any request we had so quickly that it seemed instantaneous. One night we asked for extra pillows after dinner. We returned to the room less than 15 minutes later and they were already there.
We left Torre Del Tartufo armed with recipes that we can’t wait to try at home. We would whole heartily recommend it to anyone wanting to attend cooking school in Italy or simply enjoy the Tuscan countryside.
