The week's cooking lessons, the Torre del Tartufo location, and the Tuscookany staff are all beyond compare. The property is beautiful--near Arezzo (which is about an hour's drive from Florence), but remote in the nearby hills. Public rooms and accommodations are beautifully appointed, with the rooms where you stay having lovely views. The cooking lessons are serious and excellent, with a deeply experienced chef who seems to have eyes in the back of his head that prevent culinary catastrophes. The staff is warm, welcoming, and endlessly helpful. The day of touring small businesses that make meats, cheeses, olive oil, wine, and gelato is well structured, instructive, and fun.
