I booked this trip in only 2 weeks. I wanted to get away and yet do something I love, so cooking in Italy it was. I am a 67 year old widow and flew to Florence then rented a car to drive to the villa. I cannot recommend Tuscookany highly enough. It was WONDERFUL. The photos of Casa Umbuto don't do it justice. I could relax by the pool when I wanted, never wanted for food, wine or snacks (thanks to the refrigerator for guests in the kitchen). The staff was amazing, from Chef Alice to Marta and Monica, and Claudia. (Poor Claudia, I got her out of bed in the morning I left because I couldn't figure out how to open the trunk on my rental car. I was so embarrassed but she told me it was no big deal!) Each of them could not have been more helpful and NICE!!! The owners, Pippa and Lars, had lunch with us one day and wanted to know how everything was going. My fellow students were so much fun, we had good chemistry, and I feel like I've discovered new Italian family. I also thought this was a very good value. I spent very little money while I was there, I didn't need to! You won't be sorry. In fact, I'm arranging to come back next summer with my kids!
